Summer Nights || allfathersarek
Amanda Grayson, was a woman in her mid-20s when she arrived at the Vulcan embassy a week or so ago. As a linguistics teacher, the study and use of language was her business so she felt honored to have the opportunity to perfect her Vulcan at the embassy for the whole summer. She had just learned the language so it was the perfect opportunity. Amanda also found that her presence also helped some of the Vulcans to work on their interactions with Humans. It was an arrangement that was enlightening for everyone.
It was just after lunch and Amanda was sitting in the embassy’s garden with a PADD in her hand going through the events schedule for the area nearby. She had originally intended to see if there were events that she could suggest to the Vulcans in order to better experience Human culture, but she had become sidetracked. The summer had just started which, in this neck of the woods at least, meant garden parties and balls. Very exciting stuff, really. She hadn’t spent a large portion of her time in school to attend parties. Light social gatherings she managed to fit into her schedule, but balls? She’d never been to anything like that before. If she could manage to figure out how she could go to at least one of them…. Amanda was engrossed at the possibilities and didn’t notice anyone approach her.
Amanda Grayson was a fine example of a human being. Sarek had observed her from a distance for some time, and become fascinated with the prospect of having her strong gaze directed solely towards himself. It was not a normal interest for his kind, but he was attempting to become a more understanding ambassador for Earth and humans were far more interesting than his own kind.
There was what Sarek understood to be some form of event wherein each attendee was expected to have a partner of any gender or species, and when his PA had hesitantly suggested that a human might be suitable for media coverage, he had immediately known who he wished to accompany him.
When he managed to work up some form of courage - he would forever refuse to admit he had assistance from a light glass of certain substances to aid his confidence - Sarek walked over to Amanda and wondered how to being conversation.
"….Lady Amanda?" He differentiated between focusing on her expression and her shoes. "I would be very much honoured if you would accompany me to the ball this weekend."
